Mangoes of the Kent variety are among the tastiest. The skin is predominantly green, with shades of orange, yellow or red, and the delicious flesh is yellow-orange in color.
Mango trees are native to India. In the meantime, however, mangoes are planted and harvested in almost all tropical areas of the world, such as South and Central America, Southeast Asia or Africa, where they are considered the "queen of fruits". However, the main producer by far is India, with an annual production of almost 30,000,000 tons. Indonesia is in second place with almost 3,500,000 tons.
Mango is not only juicy and tasty, its health value is definitely sensational. It owes its good reputation to valuable nutrients, including vitamin C, fiber, polyphenols and provitamin A from carotenoids. Not only does it strengthen the immune system, but it also supports a healthy intestinal flora.
Use:
Serve fresh. Mangoes are often incorporated into ice cream, fruit mousse, yogurt, muesli or cakes. Of course, they cannot be missing from any really good fruit salad.
Storage:
Mangoes should not be kept in the refrigerator for a long time, as it is a slightly too cold environment for their tropical origin. Thus, prolonged cold can affect its taste and aroma. Simply store at room temperature and refrigerate a maximum of 1-2 hours before consumption.
