About the producer
Borsec springs are located in the North-East of Romania, in the Borsec depression, Harghita county, in the heart of the Carpathian Mountains. The Borsec balneoclimatic resort is located at an altitude of 900 m, the surrounding coniferous forest providing a beneficial microclimate.
There are more than 15 natural mineral water springs. The group of springs is linked to the Borsec Pliocene basin. The deposits of this basin include crystalline epizonale rocks in the foundation, over which there are patches of sedimentary rocks (dolomitic limestones, Triassic), covered by deposits of conglomerates and sandstones, clays and clayey marls. Quaternary formations are represented by peat and travertine deposits. The waters in the crystalline rocks have the possibility to circulate, accumulate and mineralize, passing through the fissures of the massive crystalline rocks of Rebra, or on surfaces of lithologic contact. The mineralization of these types of waters depends on the dynamic activity of the waters. The presence of carbon dioxide, decisive in maintaining the chemical balance between the compounds of calcium, magnesium, sodium bicarbonates, is linked to the mofette halo of the Harghita-Calimani chain.
